Precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT
PRE-TENSIONER"
INFOID:0000000001530407
The Supplemental Restraint System such as “AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SR and SB section of
this Service Manual.
WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in
the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by
an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.
Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to personal
injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air Bag
Module, see the SR section.
Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this
Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or har-
ness connectors.
Procedure without Cowl Top CoverINFOID:0000000001397118
When performing the procedure after removing cowl top cover, cover
the lower end of windshield with urethane, etc.
Steering Wheel Rotation after Battery DisconnectINFOID:0000000001397119
NOTE:
Before removing and installing any control units, first turn the push-button ignition switch to the LOCK posi-
tion, then disconnect both battery cables.
After finishing work, confirm that all control unit connectors are connected properly, then re-connect both
battery cables.
Always use CONSULT-III to perform self-diagnosis as a part of each function inspection after finishing work.
If a DTC is detected, perform trouble diagnosis according to self-diagnosis results.
This vehicle is equipped with a push-button ignition switch and a steering lock unit.
If the battery is disconnected or discharged, the steering wheel will lock and cannot be turned.
If turning the steering wheel is required with the battery disconnected or discharged, follow the procedure
below before starting the repair operation.
OPERATION PROCEDURE
1. Connect both battery cables.
NOTE:
Supply power using jumper cables if battery is discharged.
2. Carry the Intelligent Key or insert it to the key slot and turn the push-button ignition switch to ACC position.
(At this time, the steering lock will be released.)
3. Disconnect both battery cables. The steering lock will remain released with both battery cables discon-
nected and the steering wheel can be turned.
4. Perform the necessary repair operation.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This system improves engine operation when the air conditioner is used.
Under the following conditions, the air conditioner is turned off.
When the accelerator pedal is fully depressed.
When cranking the engine.
At high engine speeds.
When the engine coolant temperature becomes excessively high.
When operating power steering during low engine speed or low vehicle speed.

INPUT/OUTPUT SIGNAL CHART
*: This signal is sent to the ECM through CAN communication line
BASIC ASCD SYSTEM
Refer to Owner's Manual for ASCD operating instructions.
Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) allows a driver to keep vehicle at predetermined constant speed
without depressing accelerator pedal. Driver can set vehicle speed in advance between approximately 40 km/
h (25 MPH) and 153 km/h (95 MPH).
ECM controls throttle angle of electric throttle control actuator to regulate engine speed.
Operation status of ASCD is indicated by CRUISE lamp and SET lamp in combination meter. If any malfunc-
tion occurs in ASCD system, it automatically deactivates control.
NOTE:
Always drive vehicle in safe manner according to traffic conditions and obey all traffic laws.
SET OPERATION
Press MAIN switch. (The CRUISE lamp in combination meter illuminates.)
When vehicle speed reaches a desired speed between approximately 40 km/h (25 MPH) and 153 km/h (95
MPH), press SET/COAST switch. (Then SET lamp in combination meter illuminates.)
ACCELERATE OPERATION
If the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch is pressed during cruise control driving, increase the vehicle speed until
the switch is released or vehicle speed reaches maximum speed controlled by the system.
And then ASCD will keep the new set speed.

CLSD THL POS ON/OFF Indicates idle position [ON/OFF] computed by
ECM according to the accelerator pedal position
sensor signal.
AIR COND SIG ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition of the air condition-
er switch as determined by the air conditioner sig-
nal.
P/N POSI SW ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition from the park/neu-
tral position (PNP) switch signal.
PW/ST SIGNAL ON/OFF [ON/OFF] condition of the power steering system
(determined by the signal sent from EPS control
unit) is indicated.
LOAD SIGNAL ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition from the electrical
load signal.
ON: Rear window defogger switch is ON and/or
lighting switch is in 2nd position.
OFF: Both rear window defogger switch and light-
ing switch are OFF.
IGNITION SW ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition from ignition switch
signal.
CLUTCH P/P SW ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition from the clutch
switch signal.
HEATER FAN SW ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition from the heater fan
switch signal.
BRAKE SW ON/OFF Indicates [ON/OFF] condition from the stop lamp
switch signal.
INJ PULSE-B1 msec Indicates the actual fuel injection pulse width
compensated by ECM according to the input sig-
nals. When the engine is stopped, a certain
computed value is indicated.
IGN TIMING BTDC Indicates the ignition timing computed by ECM
according to the input signals. When the engine is stopped, a certain
value is indicated.
CAL/LD VALUE % “Calculated load value” indicates the value of the
current air flow divided by peak air flow.
MASS AIRFLOW g·m/s Indicates the mass air flow computed by ECM ac-
cording to the signal voltage of the mass air flow
sensor.
PURG VOL C/V % Indicates the EVAP canister purge volume con-
trol solenoid valve control value computed by the
ECM according to the input signals.
The opening becomes larger as the value in-
creases.
INT/V TIM (B1)°CA Indicates [°CA] of intake camshaft advance an-
gle.
INT/V SOL-B1
% The control value of the intake valve timing con-
trol solenoid valve (determined by ECM accord-
ing to the input signals) is indicated.
The advance angle becomes larger as the value
increases.
AIR COND RLY ON/OFF The air conditioner relay control condition (deter-
mined by ECM according to the input signals) is
indicated.
FUEL PUMP RLY ON/OFF Indicates the fuel pump relay control condition
determined by ECM according to the input sig-
nals.
THRTL RELAY ON/OFF Indicates the throttle control motor relay control
condition determined by the ECM according to
the input signals. Monitored item Unit Description Remarks
