Keyless Entry System Check

1 Check the fuse for the keyless entry power feed
circuit. (EB16 10A)
If a problem found, repair as necessary.
W as the problem found? — Verify repair Go to Step 2

1. Check the KCU (Keyless Entry Control Unit)
ground circuit for an open, or short to voltage.
Also, check the KCU ignition feed circuit for an
open or short to ground and the KCU ground
circuit for an open.
2. If a problem is found, repair as necessary.

1. Check the front drive side SW circuit for an open,
or short to voltage.
2. If a problem is found, repair as necessary.

2 Check the door lock actuators circuit.
1. Ignition key position is “OFF”.
2. Disconnect the keyless entry control unit (KCU).
3. Check the door lock actuator circuit for short to ground.
If the problem found, repair as necessary.

3 Check the operation "Lock / unlock" by using
transmitter (Remote key) on the vehicle.
W as the problem found? — Go to Step 4 Verify repair
4 Check the door lock actuator.

5 Replace the Keyless entry control unit (KCU).
IMPORTANT: The replacement KCU must be
programmed the security code.

KEYLESS ENTRY CONTROL UNIT
Removal
1. Remove the glove box.

2. Disconnect the glove box lamp connector.

3. Remove the glove box cover.

4. Remove the bolt of antitheft and keyless entry control unit.
5. Disconnect the keyless entry control unit connector.
6. Remove the keyless entry control unit.


Installation
Follow the removal procedure in the reverse order to install the
keyless entry control unit.

Connector
Be absolutely sure that the keyless entry control unit harness
connector is correctly installed.
This will prevent a poor contact and an open circuit.

Power Door Lock System
General Description
The circuit consists of the door lock (& power window)
switch, door lock actuator for the front and rear door,
tailgate lock actuator and the door lock key switch.
The front door lock switch ‐RH is always provided with
the battery voltage.
The key or the inside lock button on both driver's and
front passenger's door can activate the lock mechanism
of all the doors (including the tailgate).
W hen the driver's door lock switch or the front
passenger's door lock switch is turned on, current flows
for about one second to the door lock actuator of each
door connected in parallel with the front door lock (&
power window) switch ‐LH to activate the actuator to
lock and unlock the doors.
