DISASSEMBLY SERVICE
When disassembling the disc brakes, disassemble both sides
(left and right) as a set.
PISTON BOOT/PISTON
Protect caliper body with cloth. Blow compressed air through
brake hose to remove piston boot and
Caution
Blow air gently.
SEAL REMOVAL
(1) Remove piston seal with finger tip.
Caution
Do not use a flat-tipped screwdriver or other tool to
prevent damage to inner cylinder.
( 2 ) C l e a n p i s t o n s u r f a c e a n d , i n n e r c y l i n d e r w i t h trichloro-ethylene, alcohol, or specified brake flu id.

(2) Install the guide pin and lock pin as illustrat ed

INSPECTION
lCheck cylinder for wear, rust.
lCheck piston surface for wear, damage or rust.
lCheck caliper body or sleeve for wear.
l Check pad for damage or adhesion of grease, check
backing metal for damage.
PAD WEAR CHECK
Measure thickness at the thinnest and worn area of the pad.
Replace pad assembly when pad thickness is less tha n the
limit value.
Standard value: 10 mm in.)

value: 2.0 m m in.)
Caution
1.When the limit is exceeded, the brake pads on both
the left and right wheels must be replaced as a set .
2.If there is a significant difference in the thicknesses
of the pads on the left and right
check the
sliding condition of the piston, lock pin and guide
pin.

When disassembling the disc brakes, disassemble both sides
(left and right) as a set.
PISTON BOOT/PISTON REMOVAL
Pump in compressed air through the brake hose insta llation
hole and remove the pistons and piston boot.
Caution
When removing the pistons, be sure to use the handl e
of a
hammer and adjust the height of the two
pistons while pumping in air
