Hood Ajar Switch
The RH hood lat ch incorporat es the hood ajar s wi tch t hat is hardwired t o t he CJB. If t he i gniti on is in power modes 4(Acces sory) or 6 (Ignit ion) and the hood is opened or is not ful ly closed, t he hood ajar switch is opened t o dis connect theground from t he CJB. A mess age i s trans mitt ed by t he CJB via the medi um s peed CAN bus t o the i ns trument clust er, toinform the dri ver t hat the hood is ajar.

LIFTGATE LATCH

FUEL FILLER DOOR ACTUATOR
The fuel fill er door is electricall y l ocked and unl ocked wi th an act uator and plastic pin. The act uator i s l ocat ed behind t hefuel fil ler door housi ng, and operates t he pin to engage or releas e a s pi got on the door mount ing hinge arm.
The fuel fill er door act uator is hardwired to t he CJB and is operat ed by t he vehicl e cent ral locking s ys tem. The CJB revers esthe polarity of t he actuat or power and ground connect ions , allowing t he pin to move in both direct ions for locking andunlocki ng. W hen unl ocked, the fuel fill er door is manual ly opened t o gai n access to the fuel tank fi ller cap.
CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM CONTROLS
The central locking s ys tem provides the driver wit h cont rol over t he locking and unlocking of the vehi cle ent ry points , fromins ide or outs ide t he vehicl e. Manual operati on of the cent ral locking system is achieved usi ng t he following:

The remote hands et is identi cal for all vehicl e s peci ficat ions, but di ffers in t he pres et frequency and power that the remotehandset operates. The remot e handset for each vehicle specificat ion is ident ifi ed by a s uffix change to the base part numberas follows:

A tot al of 30 'sl ots ' are availabl e in the CJB s oftware to al low for repl acement, and the addi tion of remote hands et s. Inservi ce, t he Land Rover approved di agnost ic system may be us ed to communicat e wit h the CJB for the followi ng:

RF Receiver
The RF receiver is inst all ed above the headlining, adjacent t o t he rear interi or light . The receiver provides functi onal ity forthe remote cent ral locking system, and i s als o us ed by t he t ire pres sure monit oring s ys tem and int erior li ghting function.

The RF receiver is identical for all vehi cle s peci ficati ons, but di ffers in the preset frequency that the recei ver operates. TheRF receiver for each vehi cle s pecificati on is identi fied by a suffi x change to t he bas e part number as fol lows :

Front Door Central Locking Button
Both the front door i nt erior locking but tons will acti vate the cent ral locking function. W hen a front door central l ockingbutton is pres sed/pulled, all the vehicle doors wil l centrall y l ock/unlock.
W hen a front door central l ocking butt on is press ed/pull ed, t he door control module on the act ivated door t ransmit s thecent ral lock/unlock request to t he CJB. The CJB then t rans mi ts the central lock/unlock command to all t he vehicl e doorcont rol modul es to l ock/unl ock all the vehi cle doors .
The central locking feature us ing the front door central l ocking butt on is inhi bi ted i f either of t he front doors i s ajar. If afront door i s ajar when a front door cent ral locking button is pres sed to lock the doors, the doors will lock and then i ns tantl yunlock.

The doors wil l only res pond to t he centrallock/unlock command when they are fully closed. If a door is ajar the cent ral locking feature is inhi bi ted.
The lift gate latch wi ll rel ease when the i ns trument panel central locki ng s wi tches are si mult aneous ly pres sed for 3 s econds ,and the vehicle speed is less than 8 km/h (5 mph).

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
Central Locking System - Manual Operation
The central locking s ys tem provides the option of 2 or 3 manual l ocking modes , dependent on the vehicle s pecificati on. Thelocki ng modes are acti vated usi ng t he inst rument panel cent ral locking switches, front door cent ral lock/unl ock but tons , orthe remote hands et lock/unlock butt ons:
Internall y l ocked modeExternal ly locked modeDouble l ocked mode (all except NAS, Japan and Gulf vehicles).
W hen the vehicle is externall y l ocked, the CJB flashes the di recti on indi cators once for 250 mi llis econds . W hen t he vehicle isdouble locked, t he CJB fl as hes the direct ion indicators t wi ce for 250 mil lis econds with a 250 mill isecond pause bet weenflashes . W hen t he vehicl e is unlocked with the remote hands et , t he CJB fl as hes the direction indicat or lamps twice for 250mi lli seconds wit h a 250 mi llis econd paus e between flashes.
The remote hands et may be confi gured by the dri ver for si ngle point ent ry or global ent ry, by s imultaneousl y press ing theremote hands et lock and unlock but tons for 4 s econds . The vehicle mus t i nit ially be i n an unlocked s tat e and the remotehandset recentl y removed from the start control module prior t o t he mode change. The di rection indi cat ors wil l flas h twicefor 250 mill iseconds with a 250 mill isecond pause bet ween flas hes to confirm the mode change. The vehi cle will also lockand then unlock in t he select ed mode.
W hen singl e point ent ry is enabled, an unl ock command from t he remot e handset wil l onl y unl ock the driver's door, l ift gateand the fuel fill er door. To unlock the remaining ent ry points , a s econd unlock command from the remote handset or theins trument panel central unlock swit ch is required.
Addi tional options for speed dependent locki ng and automat ic relocki ng modes may be configured by the deal er. All vehiclesincorporate an aut omatical ly operat ed cras h unlocki ng mode.
Internally Locked Mode
The int ernally locked mode is acti vated by a single pres s of the i ns trument panel central lock switch, or a s ingle pres s of afront door central lock/unlock butt on. W hen i n t he i nternal ly locked mode:
The exterior door releas e handles are di sengaged from the door lat ches t o prevent openi ng of the doors from outs idethe vehi cle.The CJB di sregards an open request from the l ift gate exterior handle to prevent opening of the lift gate from outsi dethe vehi cle.The vehi cle may be unlocked by eit her a s ingle press of the instrument panel cent ral unlock s wi tch, pulling a frontdoor central l ock/unlock butt on, or a s ingle press of t he remot e handset unl ock button. The vehicle wil l also unl ock i fthe driver or front pas senger door is opened.
Externally Locked Mode
The externally l ocked mode is act ivated by a si ngle pres s of the remote hands et lock butt on. W hen i n t he ext ernally lockedmode:
The exterior door releas e handles are di sengaged from the door lat ches t o prevent openi ng of the doors from outs idethe vehi cle.The CJB di sregards an open request from the l ift gate exterior handle or the inst rument panel cent ral locking s witchesto prevent exterior opening of the l ift gate and doors.The fuel fil ler door act uator i s energized t o l ock t he fuel filler door.The vehi cle may be unlocked by a s ingle press of the remote hands et unl ock but ton.
Double Locked Mode
The double locked mode is activat ed by pres sing the remote hands et lock butt on twice wi thin 3 seconds. W hen in the doublelocked mode:
The interior and ext erior door releas e handles are dis engaged from the door latches to prevent opening of the doorsfrom ins ide or out si de the vehi cle.The fuel fil ler door act uator i s energized t o l ock t he fuel filler door.The CJB di sregards an open request from the l ift gate exterior handle and the ins trument panel central lockingswit ches , t o prevent openi ng of t he li ftgat e and doors.The vehi cle may be unlocked with a s ingle pres s of the remote hands et unlock but ton.
For all UK, Europe and ROW s peci ficat ion vehicles , a s ingl e press of t he remot e handset l ock button wi ll externally lock t hevehicle to dis engage t he exterior handles, and wi ll arm the act ive ant i-t heft syst em.For addit ional informat ion, refer t o: Anti -Theft - Act ive (419-01A Anti-Theft - Act ive, Description and Operat ion).
For NAS, Japan and Gulf specifi cat ion vehicles, a singl e press of t he remot e handset lock button will externall y l ock t hevehicle to dis engage t he exterior handles, and wi ll arm the act ive and pas si ve anti -theft s ys tem. For additi onal informati on,refer to:

Central Locking System - Automatic Modes
The central locking s ys tem feat ures automat ic modes to control t he vehicl e entry points , and provi de prot ection for t hesystem components.
The central locking s ys tem incorporates the fol lowing automati c modes:

Mislock Mode
A mi slock occurs i f t he CJB receives an ext ernal lock or double lock reques t when a hi nged panel is ajar. To indicat e ami slock t he CJB sounds t he horns to produce a 100 milli second 'chirp'.
If a mi slock occurs due t o an external lock reques t when a hinged panel is ajar, t he CJB will not carry out a lock reques t onany acces s points .
Speed Dependant Locking Mode
W hen speed dependant l ocking is enabled the CJB wil l i nt ernal ly lock al l t he doors when t he vehicl e speed exceeds 8 km/h(5 mph) wit h al l the doors closed and the engine running. If the dri ver or front passenger door is opened and then cl os ed,when t he vehicl e s lows down or s tops and then increases to more t han 8 km/h (5 mph) again, the CJB wi ll int ernally lock thedoors.
Speed dependant locki ng may be enabled or dis abled by the deal er us ing the Land Rover approved diagnost ic syst em.
Crash Unlocking Mode
W ith the ignit ion in power mode 6 (Ignit ion), if a cras h occurs that tri ggers deployment of t he air bags , t hen t he CJB willunlock al l of t he doors . The CJB is informed of the crash by a s tatus mess age from the Rest raint s Cont rol Modul e (RCM) onthe medi um s peed CAN bus t hat changes from 'no crash' t o 'crash'.

Repetition Blocking Mode
To prot ect the central locki ng s yst em motors and actuat ors against syst em mi s-use, the CJB i ncorporat es repeti tion bl ockingto limi t t he maximum operati ng rate of each mot or and actuator. The lock mot or in each door lat ch also i ncorporat es thermalprotect ion.

The vehicle is not able to be locked us ing a front door central l ocking butt on or i ns trument panel central l ocking swit ch if anydoor is open.
If an internal lock reques t is recei ved from ei ther of the front door central locking but tons , t he CJB will cent rally lock thevehicle and then centrall y unl ock the vehicle if any door is open.
If a front door i s open and the open door central locki ng butt on i s press ed and held i n t he locked pos it ion, the open frontdoor may remai n i n the l ocked s tate. W hen t he open door is subs equently clos ed, the CJB will centrally unl ock all doors.
Automatic Relock Mode
Automati c rel ock prevent s accidental operation of the remote hands et but tons that will unlock and disarm t he vehicl e.
W hen the central locki ng s yst em is unlocked us ing the remote handset, and a door or l iftgate is not opened or t he remot ehandset is not placed in the s tart cont rol uni t wit hin 1 minut e, the CJB wi ll automatical ly lock or double l ock t he vehicl eagai n, depending on the previous ly locked mode.
Transport Mode
Al l new vehicl es are delivered from the factory in transport mode. Trans port mode replaces the t radit ional t ransi t rel ay andinhibits a number of el ectri cal s ys tems and features t o reduce quiescent drain from the batt ery during delivery. When t hevehicle is in t rans port mode 'trans p' is displayed in the i ns trument clust er odometer. Si ngle point ent ry is enabled and gl oballocki ng and unlocking usi ng t he remot e handset i s dis abled.

The speed locki ng mode is al so di sabl ed, but cras h unlocking mode remains enabled.
To remove the vehicle from transport mode, the Land Rover approved di agnost ic syst em must be connect ed duri ng t hePre-Delivery Ins pect ion (PDI). For further information, refer t o the PDI manual.
